Head of the Iranian delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary
Union meeting says the US is the main threat to the global peace
and security.
Director-General of Iran's Inter-Parliamentary Group, Mohsen
Yahyavi, stated that the US claims the right to run the entire
world, when it lacks the competence to manage its own affairs,
he told IRNA Monday in Cape Town, South Africa, on the sidelines
of the 118th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Vigilance on the part of nations will provide the international
community with a great opportunity to establish peace, stability
and security, he said.

According to Yahyavi, a deeper understanding by the nations
of the world regarding their true potential and capabilities,
coupled with their growing awareness of the emptiness of big-power
pretensions, are potent grounds for countries to promote peace
and progress through cooperation.
The Iranian MP noted that cooperation between the parliaments
of the world would play an effective role in removing threats
in the way of true democracy.
He concluded by saying that the respect afforded the Islamic
Republic of Iran by the nations of the world is a function of
its persistence in adopting and pursuing independent policies.
