The last televised Republican Debate before Super Tuesday took
place at the Ronald Reagan Library in California and once again
Ron Paul won. BodogLife.com has Ron Paul listed at 50 to 1 odds
to become the President of the United States in 2008. Paul wanted
to get more airtime for his “anti-war” and “change”
message in the Republican debate and he was getting just a little
irritated that Anderson Cooper kept the McCain/Romney ping pong
match going on for so long. Does Anderson Cooper realize Paul
has outlasted Former New York City Mayor and Senator John Edwards
in the quest of the 2008 White House.
Once he finally got a chance to speak, the Texas Congressman
stated, "You can keep borrowing from China and printing the
money to stimulate the economy.”
McCain agreed with Ron Paul about borrowing money from China
but did not say how he would continue to fight the wars abroad.
Huckabee did not like that Ron Paul was sitting between him and
the two media darling front running candidates. With only 4 people
left in the race, Ron Paul was able to get a little more attention
on center stage but the media still gave the majority of the questions
to McCain and Romney.

The Federal Reserve reduced short-term interest rates on Wednesday
for the second time in eight days. The rate cut was welcome news
on Wall Street which was expecting aggressive action by the Fed.
In lowering its benchmark Federal funds rate by half a point,
to 3 percent, the central bank acknowledged that it is now far
more worried about an economic slowdown than rising inflation,
and it left open the possibility of additional rate reductions.
For all of 2007, GDP grew 2.2%, the slowest growth since 2002.
GDP increased at a 2.9% rate in 2006. Economists expect tepid
growth to persist through the first half of the year.
When asked about the economy, Senator McCain seem to stumbled
and looked uncomfortable. Ron Paul thrives on the topic of the
economy but unfortunately won’t get the backing of the Republican
establishment. It is clear that McCain’s strength is foreign
affairs and the former P.O.W. wants to talk about the military
and fighting terrorist more than the economy. The only problem
with that is 61% of Americans say they believe the country is
in a recession. Paul sounded the strongest when discussing the
economy.
McCain said he is a federalist that believes the states know
what is best for its citizens. While McCain’s current stance
on internet gambling is unclear, the Arizona Senator has been
endorsed by former New York Senator Alfonse D’Amato, current
Chairman of The Poker Players Alliance (PPA). The endorsement
could be a sign that the Poker Player Alliance is making some
head way against the current “War on Internet Gambling”
taking place in Washington. The best case scenario for the internet
gambling industry is for the illegal federal ban to get lifted
and then individual states would get to decide if it should be
legalized and regulated.
The Poker Players Alliance is an American nonprofit Interest
group of over 840,000 members that was formed "to speak with
one voice to promote poker, ensure its integrity, and, most importantly,
to protect the players' rights." The PPA formed to serve
as an advocacy group to Washington in order to establish a legal
framework of rights and protections for United States online poker
players.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will officially endorse Senator John McCain
today. The Republican establishment is starting to rally behind
the Arizona Senator while BodogLife.com has McCain the favorite
with 2 to 11 odds to win the most Republican Primaries on Super
Tuesday. With Rudy Guiliani’s campaign infrastructure on
the ground in California and Governor Schwarzenegger’s endorsement,
McCain is looking strong to close in on a win in the Golden State.
Mitt Romney was very hospitable to McCain initially but took
a jab at him for being too liberal. Romney wants to pander to
the conservatives.
"I bet the Arizona Republican will be endorsing me,"
stated John McCain as he took a stab at the former Massachusetts
Governor Mitt Romney. McCain was endorsed by the Boston Herald,
Romney's home town newspaper.
There are 21 state primaries up for grabs on Super Tuesday (February
5th, 2008). BodogLife.com has posted political betting odds on
which Republican candidate will win the majority of primaries
on Super Tuesday (Feb. 5)?
John McCain: 2/11
Mitt Romney: 5/4
Mike Huckabee: 35/1
Ron Paul: 60/1
