With government bailouts to bad businesses expected
to cost trillions, pundits in a recent Onion News Network
segment take on the notion that America should stop throwing
money into its treasured "National Money Hole."
"That kind of talk is alarmist and irresponsible,"
said ONN pundit David Barrodale. "Driving truckloads
of money out into the New Mexico desert and dumping it
into a massive pit is one of America's greatest traditions."
"No reasonable person is advocating that we are
going to stop destroying money," added Wall Street
Journal columnist Leslie Hillerman. "But the American
people earned that money. They have the right to decide
how it should be destroyed."
