IPCC report into global warming 'played down positive impact of climate change'

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) key 2007 report also contained a number of minor errors and was criticised over a lack of transparency, a Dutch review into the report concluded.

The review highlighted an inaccuracy in the summary in terms of the number of people in Africa likely to be hit by a lack of water - a mistake the report's authors dispute.

It suggested the figures should be 90 million to 220 million by 2020, rather than the 75 million to 250 million range in the IPCC report.

But it concluded said the errors did not undermine the findings that the negative impacts of climate change posed 'substantial risks' to most parts of the world.
