False Controversy Over Grayson Comment Detracts From
Criticism Of Fed Lobbyist
Congressman stands by comments made on the Alex
Jones Show

Comments made by Florida Democrat Alan Grayson on the Alex
Jones show have been artificially blown up into a false controversy
that detracts from legitimate criticism of the corporate lobbyist
the congressman's statements were aimed at.
The
Washington Post and the AP, along with scores of
other blogs, have inflated comments made by Grayson last month
on
the Alex Jones show when he referred to the Federal
Reserve's newly employed lobbyist Linda Robertson as a "K
street whore".
Now some Republican members of Congress are using
the comments to go after Grayson and others who advocate auditing
the Fed.
Grayson has defended
his statement, explaining that he used the word
to indicate that the woman had sold her soul for financial gain.
"The second definition of ‘whore’
in the American Heritage Dictionary is 'A person considered
as having compromised principles for personal gain.'" Grayson
spokesman Todd Jurkowski told Politico, adding that "The
attack was on her professional career, not her personal life".
Jurkowski pointed out that Robertson was employed
as the chief lobbyist for disgraced energy firm Enron at the
height of the infamous corporate accounting scandal in 2001.
Last month, Linda Robertson, in her new role as
the Fed's head lobbyist, attacked congressmen, including Grayson
and Ron Paul, for pushing for an audit of the Fed. Robertson
referred to such Representatives as ignorant of the difference
between monetary policy and fiscal policy.
"She had the audacity to attack a congressman
who used to be an economist. She's a career lobbyist who used
to work for Enron and advocates for whatever she gets paid to
promote," Jurkowski said.
Indeed, as Howie
Klein at the Huffington Post acutely points out;
"She was, after all, the head of Enron's
lobbying office-- a position that defines the word "whore."
The outraged and offended congressmembers-- who realize a charge
like this is an affront to all of their self-proclaimed senses
of dignity-- would probably rather not discuss the substance
of the claim."
Reports
from 2001 revealed that while she was still employed
at the Treasury, Robertson twice accepted paid trips to talk
with Enron executives, according to her financial disclosure.
Around the same time a measure that became law,
the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, specifically
exempted energy trading from the regulatory scrutiny applied
to brokers of money, securities and commodities.
This alone proves that Robertson is a traitor
that is willing to front for the highest bidder, regardless
of whether their agenda is in the interest of the American people
or not.
Serious questions were raised back in June when
the Fed
announced that it was hiring Robertson to “manage
its relations with Congress”.
In addition to shilling for Enron, Robertson worked
under three Clinton administration Treasury secretaries including
Robert Rubin and Lawrence Summers.
Summers now heads the White House National Economic
Council, along with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, a disciple
of Robert Rubin. If Robertson's new position at the Fed isn't
a conflict of interest then what is?
Her appointment came at a time when HR1207, Ron
Paul's Federal Reserve Transparency Act, was gaining
major traction in the House. It has since moved to official
hearings before the House Financial Services Committee after
gaining majority backing.
It is rather bizarre that Grayson's comment on
the Alex Jones Show, now a month old, suddenly appeared last
night on the Red State and Politico websites and has since been
picked up by the mainstream media.
In fact, one might go as far to say that this
has all the hallmarks of a staged controversy, designed to go
after Grayson, a man who, second only to Ron Paul, has pushed
the hardest to audit the Federal Reserve.
Grayson's grillings of Federal Reserve personnel,
along with Geithner, have been seen by millions via
his youtube channel. His interrogation of Fed Inspector
General Elizabeth Coleman clocked up almost 500,000 views in
less than a month.
It seems that someone is desperate to divert attention
away from the real issue here by resorting to dirty politics.
Once again they have scored a big fat FAIL.
